Edelman Fossil Park & Museum of Rowan University was born from the generosity of alumni Jean and Ric Edelman, driven by a mission to inspire action for a better world through the power of understanding the past. It is a one-of-a-kind museum where visitors can experience the wonder of first-hand fossil discovery and immerse themselves in the epic story of the dinosaurs.

But turning this vision into reality wasn’t without its hurdles. As a nonprofit museum gearing up for its grand opening, they faced the need to build a solid foundation of tools and systems from scratch.

  • They had to make it simple for supporters to give through donations and gifts while also processing admission purchases seamlessly from their website.
  • On top of that, their small but mighty team needed these systems to play nice with their parent institution, Rowan University, ensuring data flowed smoothly across both organizations.
  • It was clear they needed more than just tools—they needed a partner to guide them in laying the groundwork for a truly impactful donor and visitor experience.

Implementing Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack and crafting a first-of-its-kind custom ticketing integration

The duo started their journey by implementing the right technology and evaluating solutions for their needs.

  • To serve as the foundation for the museum’s data and processes among their teams, Sena worked with Sercante to implement Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP).
  • Working with NPSP, Sercante, and the museum team collaborated to establish a process for gift entry and reconciliation with their parent institution, Rowan University, connecting Soapbox Engage, an online fundraising platform for nonprofits, and Salesforce.
  • In addition, the teams crafted a custom integration for their ticketing system, ROLLER, with Salesforce—the first of its kind!
  • The teams also integrated the museum’s marketing platform, Active Campaign, with Salesforce to set up their desired segmentation to ensure the right message would be sent to the right person at the right time.

Edelman Fossil Park & Museum team now has the foundational systems and processes in place to power a seamless grand opening. Their team has already started receiving museum admission purchases and donations.

  • Furthermore, to ensure Sena, Kang, and the Edelman Fossil Park & Museum team were empowered to maximize their use of the newly implemented technology and to best serve their donors and museum visitors, Sercante provided training on the tools and advised on best practices for future system integrations and scaling.
  • Sena and Kang continue to partner with Sercante to receive ongoing support and augment staff, so their time can be freed up to continue to deepen donor relationships, provide the best experience to museum visitors, and grow their mission of being a catalyst for good through an immersive experience of understanding the past.
